Job Description/Duties:

FUNCTION: Under the supervision of the Staff Development Coordinator, this position assists in the coordination and implementation of staff development programs and training. Full-time Administration/Staff Development, Hughes Main Library.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Ability to effectively present information to groups and individuals. Knowledge of effective presentation and classroom instruction skills. Ability to design appropriate education courses and lesson plans; good organization skills. Ability to communicate concepts, general information, and task-oriented information in oral, written, and electronic forms. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with the general public and library staff. Ability to work in a team environment with both technical and non-technical coworkers and end-users. Customer service oriented. Must be capable of editing work for spelling and grammar; and vary writing style to meet audience needs. Ability to create and maintain clear procedural documentation. Must be an advanced user of word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, desktop publishing, presentation, web design and database software. Ability to learn new software and systems quickly. Ability to learn wireless network connectivity. Familiarity with adult learning theory, learning styles, adult education techniques, training needs assessment methods, and instructional design approaches. Extensive knowledge of library automation software and general library operations, including circulation procedures. Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and push carts weighing over 100 pounds

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Use of personal vehicle with mileage reimbursement may be required. Valid S.C. driver s license required. Some weekend and evening work required.

MINIMUM TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: Masters degree in library science from an ALA-accredited university. Certified or eligible for certification by the South Carolina State Library. Two years experience working in a library. Experience at the advanced level using word processing, databases, various Internet browsers, email, desktop publishing, and presentation software. Knowledge of computer-based and web-based education methods. Other combinations of experience, education and training, that meet the minimum requirements, may be substituted. Preferred: Experience in work-place education and demonstrated classroom instruction skills. Experience using Camtasia (screencasting) software for video tutorial development and familiarity with Filemaker and database creation. Familiarity with wireless network connectivity.

Greenville County Library System may change assigned work location and schedule of any position depending upon the needs of the system.
