Reference and Instruction Librarian, Cumberland University, Lebanon, Tennessee
Job Description/Duties:
The Doris and Harry Vise Library of Cumberland University invites applications for the position of Reference & Instruction Librarian.
Responsibilities:
- Designing and providing reference services including virtual services through the Library s web site
- Designing and delivering library instruction services including coordinating and conducting class sessions and web based instruction incorporating information literacy skills
- Developing and implementing technological enhancements pertaining to reference and instruction services including online tutorials and guides
- Providing services to support online course
- Coordinating and providing Information Desk and Reference services including some evening and weekend hours
- Providing interlibrary loan services
- Participating in library public relations activities
- Acting as the Library liaison to assigned academic departments
- Selecting and deselecting materials in assigned subject areas
- Serving on University Committees and participating in University activities
- Participating in professional organizations and development activities
- Supervising and training work study student assistants
Required Qualifications: Master of Science in Library or Information Science from an ALA accredited program. Must be eligible to hire.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in providing reference and instruction services. Knowledge of information resources, strong customer service orientation, and ability to interact positively and productively in a collegial academic environment.
